This is relatively simple procedure that may be offered when the woman has healthy fallopian tubes and ovulates satisfactorily, and the man has normal sperms. The cycle may be natural (drug-free) if the woman ovulates normally or the ovaries may be gently stimulated to ovulate with drugs like Clomiphene Citrate tablets.

Growth of the follicles is monitored  through ultrasound scan from 10th day of the menstrual cycle. Once the follicle achieves adequate size, an injection is given to release the egg (ovulation) and the couple advised about the optimal timing of sexual intercourse.
